Role of Funeral Homes

Why would funeral homes provide full funeral services when they will not be fully reimbursed by the Trust at the time of the services?

During the receivership, all funeral homes reached a court-approved agreement that contractually obligates them to provide funeral services regardless of the amount the funeral home is paid from the Trust. This agreement guarantees consumer-depositors will get the benefits they were promised. The funeral homes throughout the state have stepped up and done the right thing by providing consumer-depositors full benefits.

Have funeral homes been providing services and reimbursing any remaining balance after a funeral service?

No situation is known in which a consumer-depositor has been denied funeral services equal to the full balance of the consumer-depositor’s account or was charged extra for those services. It is believed that funeral homes have been providing refunds in those instances in which the cost of funeral services is less than the balance of the consumer-depositor’s account balance.

What will happen if a funeral home refuses to provide the agreed-upon services or to reimburse any remaining balance after a funeral service?

If the funeral home that received the consumer-depositor’s money refuses to provide the agreed-upon services, or is charging extra for those services, or has refused to reimburse any remaining balance after a funeral service, the consumer-depositor should notify Fiduciary Partners (contact information can be found here) and the following:
